Trigonometry ဆိုတာ ႀတိဂံနဲ႔ သက္ဆိုင္ေသာ သခ်ၤာဘာသာရပ္လို႔ ေယဘုယ် အဓိပၸါယ္ဖြင့္ဆို ႏိုင္ပါတယ္။ ႀတိဂံ၏ အနားမ်ားႏွင့္ ေထာင့္မ်ား၏ ဆက္စပ္မႈကို ေလ့လာေသာ ဘာသာရပ္ျဖစ္သည္။ အသံုးခ်သခ်ၤာ (applied mathematics) ဘာသာရပ္တြင္ trigonometric functions မ်ားကို mathematical tools အျဖစ္ အသံုးျပဳ ပါသည္။ Trigonometry ၏က႑ခြဲျဖစ္ေသာ spherical trigonometry ကိုေတာ့ အာကာသပညာႏွင့္ ေရေၾကာင္း ပညာရပ္မ်ားတြင္ အသံုးျပဳသည္။Angle
In trigonometry an angle is determined by rotating a ray about its endpoint from an initial position to terminal position.ေထာင့္တစ္ခု၏ မူလ(အစ) လက္တံကို initial side ဟုေခၚၿပီး ေရြ႕လွ်ားလက္တံကို terminal side ဟု ေခၚသည္။ ေထာင့္မ်ားကို coordinate ျပင္ညီတြင္ ေဖၚျပေသာအခါ positive x-axis ကို initial side ဟု သတ္မွတ္သည္။
Positive and Negative Angles
Angles measured from the X-axis in an anticlockwise direction are positive angles.Angles measured from the X-axis in an clockwise direction are negative angles.
ေထာင့္တစ္ခု ဆိုသည္မွာ အတိုင္းအတာ (magnitude) ျဖစ္ေသာေၾကာင့္ ပကတိ တန္ဖိုးတြင္ အေပါင္းအႏႈတ္ တန္ဖိုး သတ္မွတ္ ခ်က္ မရွိပါ။ Positive and negative ဟု ခြဲျခား သတ္မွတ္ျခင္းမွာ ဦးတည္ရာ (direction) ကို သတ္မွတ္ျခင္း ျဖစ္ပါသည္။ initial side မွ terminal side သို႔ နာရီလက္တံ ေျပာင္းျပန္ (anticlockwise direction) အတိုင္းေရြ႕လွ်ားလွ်င္ positive angle ဟု သတ္မွတ္ၿပီး နာရီ လက္တံအတိုင္း (clockwise direction) ေရြ႕လွ်ားလွ်င္ negative angle ဟု သတ္မွတ္သည္။
Radian Measure of an Angle
The radian measure of an angle is the ratio of the length of the arc (s) whose centre is at the vertex of the angle to the radius (r).
ေထာင့္တစ္ခု၏ radian measure ဆိုသည္မွာ ထိုေထာင့္၏ ေထာင့္စြန္းမွတ္ကို ဗဟိုျပဳေသာ စက္၀ိုင္းတစ္ခု၏ ေထာင့္လက္တံ ႏွစ္ခုၾကား အ၀န္းပိုင္းအလ်ား (s) ႏွင့္ အခ်င္း၀က္ (r) တို႔၏ အခ်ိဳးျဖစ္သည္။

Trigonometric Ratios of Any Anglesေထာင့္အတိုင္းအတာ အားလံုးအတြက္ အခ်ိဳးမ်ားကို ရွာႏိုင္ရန္ unit circle ကိုေလ့လာမည္။ Unit circle ဆိုသည္ မွာ Radius ပမာဏ 1 unit ရွိေသာ circle တစ္ခုျဖစ္သည္။ Circle ၏ ဗဟို(centre) ကို X-Y plane(Cartesian Plane) ၏ origin အျဖစ္သတ္မွတ္သည္။ Trigonometric ratios ရွာလိုေသာ ေထာင့္၏ initial side အျဖစ္ positive X-axis ကို သတ္မွတ္သည္။
